Whether as fixed energy storage for self-sufficient buildings, power units or in mobile applications such as electric cars – batteries are one of the key pillars of modern energy technology. BOPP meshes take on two key technical functions in high quality batteries.
Our nickel meshes serve on one hand as current collectors: thanks to their optimal conductivity they conduct electrons efficiently over the active anode and ensure regular discharge of the cells. The open pored structure of the meshes allows for the homogenous distribution of electricity and improves contact between the anode and the active materials.
At the same time, nickel mesh strengthens the structure of the anode and contributes significantly to the mechanical stability of the electrode. During the charge cycle, nickel mesh prevents swelling and cracking, thereby increasing the structural integrity and service life of the battery.
For battery applications, we use only extremely pure nickel meshes, mostly in the form of square weave meshes. Nickel meshes offer exceptional resistance to corrosion and can be calendered to achieve a particularly flat finish. This increases the contact area within the cell and thereby improves electrical conductivity. BOPP meshes are the stand out choice for SPC (Statistical Process Control).
