The pre-prepared warp beam arrives at the beaming department, where preparatory work is carried out in readiness for the weaving process. Demonstrating the highest levels of concentration and unbelievably deft instincts, the individual wires, which already measure less than a quarter of the diameter of a human hair, are threaded onto the weaving machines. The wire is transferred by hand onto the hooks, which ensures the accuracy and continuity of the feed.

The finer the mesh, the more challenging is the work of our threaders, who work to zero tolerance standards. A single error will ruin hours of work.

A few case examples:

  • A 200 count mesh at Ø 40 µm and 8000 wires per metre takes 36 hours to thread
  • A 400 count mesh at Ø 25 µm and 16,000 wires per metre takes 88 hours to thread
  • A 720 count mesh at Ø 35 µm and 34,000 wires per metre requires 107 hours

The threaded warp beam is now ready to be tensioned on the weaving machine.
