Architecture

Good architecture is not only characterised by an impressive visual effect. It is a trade off between construction, aesthetics, functionality and the creation of a high quality cultivated environment. Metal meshes manufactured by BOPP are helping to unite design with functionality.

As an example, coarse meshes adorn the façade of our head office in Zürich Affoltern and complete the contemporary look. Metal meshes used on façades give the building envelope interesting light reflections. For building interiors, they function as room dividers and thereby give structure to open spaces. Different materials and our in-house fabricating capabilities mean these can be adapted to match individual requirements.

At a functional level, our architectural meshes also provide effective solar screening and at the same time reduce levels of heat entering the building. Despite this, the view from the windows is not restricted. Where suspended ceilings and room dividers are in use, they can work in tandem with sound absorbing materials to improve the room acoustic.

Metal meshes offer an effective safety barrier in stairwells and passageways and also provide additional protective features such as protection against accidental contact with machinery. Optimal ventilation is guaranteed due to the mesh apertures.

As our architectural meshes are almost excusively made from metal, they also play a role in fire protection.

  • Architectural meshes unite function and design
  • Optimisation of room acoustics and good solar shading
  • Fulfilment of protective functions such as on machinery
