Fuel Cells

Filling up takes almost the same time as with any other fuel – with the significant difference that the ‘exhaust’ consists only of water and oxygen, whilst the hydrogen is ideally completely CO2 neutral. Fuel cells open up completely new perspectives.

Fuel cells are electrochemical devices, where the chemical energy of a fuel is transformed directly into clean electricity. Generally, that fuel is hydrogen. Combined with renewable energy generation for the electrolysis of hydrogen, fuel cells provide large volumes of electrical energy with high power density which is completely carbon neutral.

The applications are many fold and diverse, from solutions for drive systems in cars, freight vehicles and ships through to aeroplanes or, using a stand alone power supply, entire buildings or remote areas.

BOPP products are used primarily in the form of specially developed meshes in plain weave (smooth mesh) or as Dutch weave (lightproof mesh specification) using various materials as anodes.

Dependent upon customer specification, we cut our roll form mesh into punched or molded parts as well as precision slit mesh strips where required, with additional processes including thermal treatments and coatings. Appropriate materials include nickel, Duranickel, Crofer, stainless steel and a range of alloys.

  • Fuel cells work almost noiselessly
  • Fuel cells operate vibration-free
  • Fuel cells produce no damaging exhaust gases
  • BOPP wire meshes are used primarily for cell anodes
